Job Description

About This Role

Quilla Academy is looking for a dependable, energetic After School Teacher to join our growing school-age program.

Our after-school program gives elementary-age children a safe and positive place to spend their afternoons. We want our program to be more than basic supervision—we want children to have opportunities to play, create, spend time outdoors, participate in interesting activities, and build positive relationships with adults and other children.

This is a part-time, Monday-Friday position. The typical schedule is approximately 2:00-5:45 PM , with some flexibility in the start time. Children generally arrive between 2:30 and 3:00 PM.

We are especially interested in someone who is willing and able to drive for afternoon school pickup. A teacher who regularly assists with transportation would begin at approximately 1:45 PM . There may also be opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and summer camp, including helping with transportation for occasional field trips.

Previous experience working with children is preferred, but we are willing to consider someone without formal childcare credentials who is dependable, enthusiastic, and a great fit for our program.

Starting pay is $13.50-$16 per hour, based on relevant experience, qualifications, and driving responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and actively engage with elementary-age children
  • Help provide fun, age-appropriate activities, games, art experiences, and outdoor play
  • Support a positive environment where children feel safe, welcome, and respected
  • Assist with snacks, transitions, cleanup, and other daily routines
  • Help children solve problems and interact positively with their peers
  • Work cooperatively with the school-age program leader and other assigned staff
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and follow childcare health and safety procedures
  • Assist with afternoon school pickup and transportation if qualified and assigned to drive
  • Assist with school-break and summer camp activities when additional hours are available

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Dependable and punctual, with reliable attendance
  • Patient, positive, and comfortable working with groups of elementary-age children
  • Willing to actively interact and participate with children rather than simply supervise
  • Able to work approximately 2:00-5:45 PM Monday-Friday on school days
  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors
  • Able to meet Georgia childcare employment and background-check requirements
  • Able to work cooperatively as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Willing and able to drive a childcare vehicle for afternoon school pickup
  • Clean driving record and ability to meet applicable driving and insurance requirements
  • Previous experience working with school-age children
  • Previous childcare, camp, recreation, coaching, or classroom experience
  • Early childhood or school-age care coursework or credential
  • Interest in working additional hours during school breaks and summer camp
  • Availability to assist with occasional summer field-trip transportation

Benefits

  • Consistent Monday-Friday afternoon schedule
  • Weekends off
  • Opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and summer
  • Opportunities for professional development and advancement
  • Support for employees interested in pursuing childcare or school-age credentials
  • Scholarship opportunities for early childhood education degree programs
