We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our San Diego, CA office. The successful new hire will have over 7 years of related design experience, and will join a team of engineers working throughout the Southern California and Pacific regions on large, complex, and exciting projects at local ports and waterfront facilities. The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm’s hallmark in several primary practice areas – ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy. \n \n Duties and Responsibilities: \n Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. \n \n Prepare design documents and reports for the structural design of piers, wharves, seawalls, buildings, and other miscellaneous structures using cast-in-place concrete, prestressed concrete, masonry, timber and steel \n Lead and manage waterfront projects relating to: \n Near-shore platforms, trestles, wharves, piers, docks, bulkheads, mooring/breasting structures, and liquid, gas, container and bulk terminals \n Structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, timber, etc. \n Inspection, authoring assessment reports and developing rehabilitation plans of waterfront structures \n Urban waterfront projects \n Knowledge of shoreline protection material and breakwaters design \n Perform calculations, prepare drawings, technical specifications, and write reports \n Manage teams of structural designers and coordinate work with other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets \n Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection \n Manage a team directly or through supervisors and professional staff; sets priorities and expectations; builds team capability \n Build effective relationships with other departments \n Develop construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates and structural calculation packages \n Oversee project budgets, contracting strategies, scheduling document preparation and support and evaluation \n \n \n Other Duties: \n Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. \n \n Qualifications: \n \n Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required \n Master’s degree; preferred \n Professional Engineer license (PE or SE) in the state of California or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required \n 7 to 10 years of related structural design experience; required \n Marine waterfront design experience; strongly preferred \n Able to manage assigned design tasks with minimal oversight \n Proficiency in software such as SAP2000, Bluebeam, Xtract, REVIT & AutoCAD \n \n
