Position: Kids Ministry Teacher Supervisor:

Effective Start Date: Immediately

Brief Description : This Teacher/Leader position leads the children’s ministry at New Haven Ministries by both planning and executing an exciting, engaging, and age-appropriate gospel-centered Sunday morning program for Nursery, Pre-K and elementary students as well as additional programming for holidays and events for the students. The Teacher/Leader develops, supports, and empowers volunteers and parents to partner with them in the discipleship of the next generation.

Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Serve as Teacher for the classroom environment, ensuring it is engaged, loving, and upbeat.
• Work with other Leaders in the nursery, pre-k, and elementary rooms, with lesson plans and activities.
• Foster an environment of enthusiasm, vision, and care for the team of volunteers and parents.
• Help set up and clean up for your classrooms, as well as operational flow.
• Ensure a smooth Check-in process and be ready to teach a class.
• Assist with administrative duties for volunteers, supplies, and programming for the Kids Ministry.
• Work alongside others to prepare specials for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, our annual Christmas Program, Easter, and an annual VBS/Summer Camp week.
• Communicate and connect with Kids and parents via social media and/or phone, etc., to engage attendance and, at times, help distribute flyers in the neighborhood to recruit and invite the community to children's ministry.
• Position requires in-person attendance on Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm and possibly Wednesdays from 6.30 pm to 9 pm and on occasion some Fridays, etc.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment at all times

Requirements

• Prior experience with teaching, mentoring, or social work, especially with children or in faith-based settings
• Strong leadership skills coupled with excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of Christian counseling principles and hospice care is advantageous
• Ability to plan engaging educational activities and events for children of various ages
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team of church staff and volunteers
• Commitment to upholding the values of the church community and fostering spiritual growth among children
